In the space of two years between 1996 and 1998, Andrew Lau has churned out five Young and Dangerous <古惑仔> movies to varying degrees of box-office success. And over four months later after Young and Dangerous 5 <98古惑仔之龍爭虎鬥> was released earlier in 1998, Lau took a detour to go back to where it all begins in the form of a prequel.

20 Years Later: Infernal Affairs 無間道 (2002)

Infernal Affairs <無間道> celebrates its 20th anniversary this month. This is the movie that reunites Andy Lau and Tony Leung Chiu-Wai since their last collaboration in The Tigers <五虎將之決裂> back in 1991. And most of all, it famously re-defined the oft-told undercover genre by giving it a then-fresh twist.

Kung Fu Monster (2019) Review

Here’s the thing about Andrew Lau: his body of work as a journeyman director is often erratic. And I have to admit most of his directorial efforts these days were either plain mediocre (2010’s Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen <夜行俠陳真>, 2016’s From Vegas To Macau III <賭城風雲III>) or downright disappointing (2014’s Revenge Of The Green Dragons <青龍複仇>, 2017’s The Founding Of An Army <建軍大業>).
